Overall Structure of Basic Curriculum Concepts
From IS Curriculum
Figure 1 below illustrates the proposed conceptual structure for the foundation of the new undergraduate IS curriculum. The core elements of the structure are as follows:
- High-level IS Capabilities describes at an abstract level the capabilities that organizations looking to hire IS graduates expect them to have.
- Three Knowledge & Skill Areas (IS Specific Knowledge & Skills, Foundational Knowledge & Skills, and Domain Fundamentals) provide a more concrete and specific list of the knowledge and skills that undergraduate programs in Information Systems will provide to their graduates. These are derived from the High-level IS Capabilities.
- Curriculum topics are the topics that will be delivered in the courses and other educational experiences that are offered as components of an undergraduate program in Information Systems. These topics will be chosen from relevant bodies of knowledge.
