[edit] 1 About This Guide
This is a guide to Library resources for ALANA (Asian/Asian American, Latino/a, African American, Native American and Multiracial) research.
ALANA studies is an interdisciplinary field combining traditional and contemporary approaches to research on issues of race, ethnicity, and class. Major areas include the study of specific groups (for example, Chinese), the history and experience of specific groups in specific places (for example, African Americans in the United States), and topical issues such as ethnic identity, ethnic literature, social movements, labor history, affirmative action and immigration. In addition to its own literature, ALANA materials are integral in disciplines such as American studies, history, literature, media, film, sociology, and women's studies.
