This guide was created to provide a starting point for researching industries and markets. Some of the resources listed below are subscription databases and may only be accessed by current students, faculty, and staff of Bentley College. - Encyclopedia of American Industries; Encyclopedia of Emerging Industries, Encyclopedia of Global Industries via Business & Company Resource Center (InfoTrac)
- Type of Resource: Library Database
- Provides detailed overviews of a wide variety of U.S. and international industries.
- Type of Resource: Library Database
- Click on the <Advanced Search> icon.
- In the <Content Area> drop-down box select <Industry Overviews>.
- Enter a NAICS or SIC Code in the search box, the select <NAICS> or <SIC> from the drop-down box.
- Standard & Poor`s Net Advantage

- Provides an excellent overview of an industry`s current environment, industry trends, key players in the industry, etc.
- Type of Resource: Library Database
- Click on <Industries> at the top of the page.
- In the drop-down box select your industry, OR, enter a company`s name or ticker symbol in the search box.
- Datamonitor Industry Profiles via Business Source Premier (EBSCO)
- Type of Resource: Library Database
- Provides access to 1,600+ full text industry profiles from Datamonitor. These reports provide a market overview and include detailed information about market share, segmentation, volume, value, the competitive landscape, and the leading companies. Also include market forecasts.
- Type of Resource: Library Database
- Click on the <Industry Profiles> link (right side of screen).
- Select the "View By" <All Profiles> tab.
- In the search box, type the name of the industry (for example, software) and then select radio button <By Title, Subject and Description>.
- Click on <Browse>. Select the industry profile you`d like to view by clicking on it.

Complete your research by conducting a thorough review of current journals, trade publications, magazines and newspapers. Don't restrict your search to just one database. There can be significant differences in journal coverage and full-text availability. To search for articles in marketing and other business journals, use the following databases:
