[edit] 1 What is RefWorks?
- Simply put, RefWorks is a tool for creating bibliographies and formatting research papers in the citation style of your choice (eg. APA, MLA). RefWorks also allows you to easily organize and keep track of your references.
- RefWorks is an online resource and can be accessed from both on and off-campus.
- RefWorks allows you to compile, edit and format bibliographies by importing references directly from online databases or by entering them manually.
- Each Bentley College student, faculty and staff person has the ability to create their own individual RefWorks account.
[edit] 2 Create A RefWorks Account
- Go to the RefWorks log-in page.
- Make sure your screen says: "RefWorks User Login for Bentley College".
- Click on the "Sign up for an individual account" link.
- Complete the registration form. Please note: When creating your account you must use your Bentley email address. You will receive an email confirmation of your registration.
- After you click on register, you'll be brought in to your new, empty RefWorks account where you can begin adding your references.

[edit] 6 A Note About Plagiarism and Academic Integrity
Plagiarism is a violation of Bentley College's Academic Integrity Policy as put forth in the Student Handbook. Whether you are writing a paper, compiling a business plan or creating a PowerPoint presentation, it is vital that you properly cite the information that you have used. Information from books, periodicals, online databases, websites, etc. should be cited according to the guidelines of your discipline (usually MLA or APA) or those of your professor. Even though RefWorks is an excellent tool, users should always double-check RefWorks results against the official guidelines of the citation style being followed.
