About Us

Our Politics, Technology, and Media web site provides an archive of research studies conducted by political science Professors Christine B. Williams, Girish J. “Jeff” Gulati, and their co-authors at Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts.

These studies have appeared in refereed academic journals and conference proceedings, trade publications and other periodicals that cover politics, both in print and online. The archive includes press releases that summarize recent and ongoing research studies and provides links to articles in newspapers, magazines and blogs that have featured our work.

We began studying the Internet campaigns of the 2008 presidential candidates in Spring 2007. This Fall, we will extend our study of Congressional online campaigns by collecting data on the 2008 races.

Besides e-campaigns, our research interests include studies of how the Internet affects political participation and democracy more generally. We have examined social networks, online issue advocacy, and grassroots organizing vehicles such as Meetup.com. Another line of research focuses on e-government, particularly cross-agency information sharing, IT policy and governance.

Our most recent work appears at or near the top of the list of entries for each category. Those addressing the same topic have been grouped together.

Thanks for your interest. We are happy to receive your comments, suggestions or questions.
